Board Meeting Minutes November 5, 2003
Meeting Opened at 6:40 P.M.
President opened meeting.
Minutes read and Accepted.
Quorum present
Old Business
1-The continuing saga of the house built on Frank Street looks suspiciously,
some members say, like a business operation. When questioned, the owner said
the large garage in his backyard was built to house his boat. One member saw
paint cans and other evidence of activities that appear to validate the
suspicion. The association has collectively decided to keep alert to the level of
activity surrounding the house on Frank St.
2-Alibi's Nightclub. There was some discussion about the nightclub's
entertainment license and if the license covered male dancers.
3- It was suggested that the lease for the former Big Y building located on
the corner of Wilbraham Road and Parker Street is being held purposefully by
the Big Y corp. to prevent a competitor from moving into the space.
4-Concerning the Development of Putnam's Puddle assisted senior living
center. The center is not in our district so is not a direct issue for this
Association. However, because it is in close proximity to our dominions we are
keeping a watchful eye on its progress. Briefly, Mr. Roach from the management
office hosted an information session that one of our members attended. It was
reported back that management intends to build 100 units for seniors. There will
be a 100-foot buffer near Sunrise and North Brook Streets. Mr. Roach explained
that this is a tax generating facility for the city.
New Business
1-A letter of Congratulations to Mayor Elect Charles Ryan will be mailed from
the president.
2-Members were invited to the WNEC Christmas party on Tuesday December 3rd.
3-The newly formed By-law committee will have five to nine board members. At
present there are three, James Gregory, Ted Knee and Richard Greenberg.
There will not be a board meeting in January. The annual Holiday party will
take the place of the regular monthly meeting for December. There will not be a
guest speaker that night.
It was suggested that the party would be a good time to present certificates
to local merchants for their continued civic contributions to Sixteen Acres.
This may also be a good time to contact the community merchants and foster an
information sharing meeting between the Association and merchants.
Finally in regards to the EPA issue and permit for the condominiums.
The radioactive material has been removed.
