Welcome by President Clodo
Guest Speaker: Western New England College president Dr. Caprio who is the President of WNEC spoke about the many changes that are happening at WNEC. Such changes as building a new dorm in the back, and a traffic light at Wilbraham Road and Gateway Dorms.
NEW BUSINESS:
WNEC Community Service students will be taking over the cleaning, weeding and planting of bushes and flowers at the islands, at the corner of Wilbraham Rd / Parker St. The students are Jennifer Kolins and Adrian Ardeli along with the Athletic Dept. WNEC has a acquired a Grant to do more community service things. They will be mentoring in schools, they will be planting bushes and flowers. The girls will work with the landscapers from WNEC to help us.
They would like to see us support their sports events. If we need help at any of our events we could call WNEC students and they would help us.

Helen Boyle, Library & Museum committee person will go to a meeting on April 23, 2003. It is an organizational meeting. If Helen is not able to go to a meeting the substitute person is Carol Lewis Caulton.
Urban League of Spfld has just bought the Mason Square Library for $800,000.00
A question was asked, how come churches, hospitals, colleges don't pay towards the fire and police. A question to ask Mayor Albano or our next mayor
A meeting with Linda Petrella from Planning will be held soon to discuss the vacant properties at Big Y, Burger King, and House of TV
Dues: Jean Masse spoke about the dues, saying the collecting of dues is going well
A person who lives on Sunrise Terrace is selling cars illegally. Someone called Clodo and he called Code Enforcement. Owner was told to get rid of cars or be fined
SABIS Charter School: Barbara Garde spoke about many issues concerning the neighborhood around the school. The gate at Scarlesdale, which is supposed to be closed at certain times, seems to be open to often. Buses are not supposed to be going down Mallowhill. Many other streets are being affected like Sunbrier, Peekskill. The police have been called. Barbara and neighbors want to meet with someone from the school. Clodo spoke to Beth Conway and the principal Maretta Thompson. Clodo will follow up
Election Committee: Maria Johnson, Chairperson, Denise Kelsey and Helen Blake are on the nomination committee. Anyone wishing to run for an office can come to the meeting on May 20, 2003
Sixteen Acres Summer Picnic: Will be held at Camp Wilder, Parker Street, on August 16, 2003. More info to follow
Willis S: Had invited Duryea Transportation Society to speak, but the regular meeting ran a little long. Willis invited them to come back again
50/50 Raffle: A raffle was held and $72.00 was collected and half stayed with our organization and half was split between three people
Crime Watch: Meets every 3rd Monday. The next meeting will be held on Monday, May 19, 2003 at Colonial Estates, South Branch Parkway. At 7:00 pm in the Community Room.
John LiVesque: Is the chair person for the community police and tells us if we have concerns about keeping lights on in different areas of the city to call the Mayor's office. Make our voices heard of any area that needs the lights to be kept on
