16 Acres Civic Assoc. Mtg     June 18, 2002
 

Nominations were held for new officers and Board members.  Peter says anyone can make a nomination from the floor on the night of elections.  Barbara verified that the ballot was legal and OK to vote on.  Ted  made a motion to accept the ballot as is, motion was seconded and all present voted to accept.  Ruth as secretary, cast one vote for the whole slate to be voted on.  Officers were elected and then introduced

Jean Masse (past president) gave a good-bye speech

Membership drive is up, 96 people need to still pay by the end of July

Judy Fleury is getting new members, everyone please sign up one or more new members

Richard and the 16 Acres committee on schools met in June, they have decided to contact other Civic Assoc. to work together.  MCAS are some of the lowest in the state
 17 schools are failing.  Children should be able to attend better schools.  The committee is Richard Greenberg, Marshall Moriarity, Doris Robinson, Ann Hadank, Breen family, Ruth Moorhouse.  If you would like to join, please talk to Richard Greenberg.  The next meeting has not been scheduled

The 16 Acres Civic Assoc. is looking for someone to do the newsletter, if you are interested, please let any officer or Board member know

There will be no July or August meeting of the 16 Acres Assoc.  There will be a Board of Directors meeting scheduled.

YMCA---The 16 Acres Civic Assoc. would like to sponsor a 16 Acres child for $250.00, to go to Camp Wilder this summer.  A motion was made by Dan to give the money to the YMCA to use at their discretion, could they let us know later who they used the money for

Willis mentioned that we need a new list of members for all of to correspond with.  We also need a list of new officers for all members.
Parker St – Frank St (across from the Sixteen Acres Library) Frank Sayres, developer,
Seems to be trying to develop 3 non-conforming lots, which seem to be only 10 feet apart from each other.  These lots are grandfather lots and are already OK’d by the Building Department.  We have talked to Mr. Desolets from the Building Dept, he says he cannot fax the blue prints.  We are still waiting to hear about the property

Parkerview St. Someone has cleared out much of the area and made logs and are being sold to a Canadian Co., someone should of called the police

Mayor Albano is taking action against ATT/Broadband, because they have not lived up the their contract with the city.
