Clodo greeted members
Brenda Garton from Western New England College was the guest speaker. She talked about her personal life. She lived in Indiania, and went to Ball State University and she has been broadcasting for 20 years. WWLP, the new tv station, in now located in Chicopee, where Brenda is still doing the Health Watch, once a week. She has a wonderful husband and 2 boys
Brenda would like to put the Sixteen Acres Civic Assoc. on their mailing list at WNEC, for better community relations.
OLD BUSINESS
Jean read the October meeting minutes, and they were accepted
The treasurer reports there is a balance of $2120.04, and the report was accepted
There was a motion to give the Christmas Party Committee another $40.00, which brings the total to $100.00 to be spent on the party, it was accepted. The party is a social/family event and is open to all 16 Acres Civic Assoc. members and their families. There will be pizza served, please bring a desert or a raffle gift
NEW BUSINESS
At the February meeting we would like to recognize the great work done by State Rep. Paul Caron. Motion made to get a plaque for him. Jim will get more info about the words to put on the plaque, and Ed will get prices
Wally Brown was nominated and elected to run for a position on the Liquor Board. This one person who is elected, will join a couple others on this Liquor Board. One candidate will be chosen from our 16 Acres Civic Board and all the other Civic Assoc. and Neighborhood Councils. GOOD LUCK TO ALL
The house on Parker/Frank still has construction going on. Clodo has copies of permits, the builders need to comply with the rules and regulations. Peter F, our community police spoke with brother of owner Paul Sayres, about the large tractor trailer being left on the property. As long as construction is going on, they can park the trailer there. The owner Paul Sayres says he or his brother Jason Sayres will be living in the house. A member complained that workers are working at early morning and also on Sunday, work cannot be done before 7am and work can't be done on Sunday.
Jean gave a report on the Sixteen Acres Civic Assoc.; annual can drive at Food Mart on Cooley. It went really well, over $1000.00 was collected and many pounds of food. THANK YOU TO JEAN AND ALL WHO HELPED
